A station was established at Newman Grove when the Fremont, Elkhorn & Missouri valley Railroad's branch line was laid from Scribner to Albion and then up to Oakdale where it joined the main line. The depot had living quarters for the station agent, a room for freight and ticket sales, and a men's and a ladies' waiting rooms.
